Did you know what's the tiny jeans pocket for?

When The Huffington Post posted this article on Facebook, my first brilliant reply was "coins!" Well, just like a real good story, things are not what it seems. That tiny pocket was originally for pocket watches!

The Cucumber Encounter

This is not your usual cucumber! It's a cucumber garnish!

A Waste of Packaging

In my opinion, this is really a waste of packaging. One little chocolate (orange packaging) and one little biscuit (purple packaging) packed individually. On top of that, just a handful of them come bundled in a bigger cardboard box. Not only it's a waste of material, it will be a lot of wastes after the fact.

I can only guess what the manufacturer is trying to achieve here: To fill up hampers! Welcome to the world of deceit.

Fruits and Shoes

Have you ever wondered how fruits and shoes can mix so well?

Water - the other factor that could change how your cup of coffee tastes

The other factor that stands in the way of your perfect cup of coffee - water! The beans can be the same but depending where and when you brew, the taste might just differ.
Some of the compounds in hard water are "sticky," glomming onto certain compounds in coffee when they meet in your coffee-making device. The more eugenol the water hangs on to, for example, the woodsier the taste of your coffee will be.
Meanwhile, if you use soft water - the distilled type - the coffee would always taste the same. So for a consistent brew, you know what to do.

Broken

Drove just next to this broken road barrier in a traffic jam. It wouldn't have caught my attention had it not been the terrible non-moving car stack ahead. Does looked like a robot with the two eyes doing a facial expression, right? XD

Is colouring the new stress therapy?

A photo posted by @ionbuck on

With (almost) everything available online these days, I've seldom stepped into a bookstore (not to mention lack of time to read story books). I was kind of surprised when I went into one today - a section dedicated just for colouring books for adults! I've quickly dismissed the colouring apps that's been appearing in the AppStore but this section brought that memory back into mind.

Looks like it's the new stress therapy for adults! Without knowing if it really works, I was quickly tempted into getting one. I suppose I love colouring because I have been in the creative mood lately without much creativity. Colouring seems like the next best thing for me since I can't think of much to draw or create.

That aside, IS colouring really therapeutic? The Guardian seems to agree while at the same time stressing that being therapeutic doesn't mean it is a stress therapy. The Huffington Post, however, appears to be an advocate. Well, I suppose at the end of the day it really goes back to the individual - not all things suit everyone. As for me, I ended up not buying any - I doubt I have the patience to even finish a page of someone else's really complicated drawings.

Orange Abstract

An abstract from the bottom side of a pendant light. You'll never know what you find when you look up from your seat during dinner. :)

Sheeps Grazing

I'd like this to be a super masterpiece one day but normally this only happens after the artist turned into petroleum so, oh well... I call this Sheeps Grazing. Inspired by some squarish and blocky graphics that I've seen coupled by this being the last month of the goat year. Hope it looked artistic enough. It is, after all, coming straight out from the heart of my inner child.

Eyes, Lots of Eyes

You're not going to believe this. The need to draw led me to these abstract eyes. They all look at the middle eye which in turn do not know what to do. There is only one choice for the middle eye - look at the unassuming reader for some guidance. You got some?

What if you want to build a snowman but you live in a place that never snowed?

You could wait for the weather pattern to go crazy or you could improvise:

What if it's in the desert? I suppose if you can find an oasis you could mix sand with water (just like how you build a sand castle?) and build a sandman. Cacti could help to make some of the sandman's parts.

What about in the jungle? Lots of mud rolled into a ball together with lotus leaves and circular rocks may be mad into a mud man... I think.

Drawn with Paper by FiftyThree. The outline of the snow, sand and mud men were cloned and pasted. The colours and details were added later. I used the watercolour, outline and pen tools the most here. The circles of the "men" were drawn using the smart shape tool. The overlap of the circles were erased with the eraser.

What do the ice-cream and shit emojis have in common?

There couldn't possibly be a better post than this in a new year (besides the usual well mannered greetings, of course). What do the ice-cream and shit emojis have in common? According to The Huffington Post, they are the SAME. Gasp!

Happy New 2016!

Happy New Year from me... and a panda of mine - created using Procreate Pocket. Why particularly Procreate Pocket? I would've used Paper (by FiftyThree) if I could but I wanted a fluffy one so I had to search for an alternative (there is no doubt better artists could do it with Paper). Coincidentally, I came across Apple's ad campaign "Start Something New" and quite a number of the inspirational stuff were created using Procreate. The iPad version is expensive so I settled for the US$0.99 phone version.
