Conditions to Carry Liquids in Hand Luggage

From 21 May 2007, airline passengers carrying liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) will need to adhere to the following rules and regulations:
  1. Not more than 100ml per item
  2. Containers containing LAGs cannot be larger than 100ml even if not filled
  3. ALL containers containing LAGs must fit comfortably into special transparent, re-sealable bags provided (free first three to six months, which after that, passengers need to get those themselves)
  4. These re-sealable bags have a maximum capacity of 1 litre and measuring 20cm x 20cm
  5. Necessary medicine, baby milk/food and special dietary requirements are exempted provided proof is produced
The reason for this ruling traces back to a foiled terrorist plot at Britain on 9 August last year. Other countries already implemented these rulings are United States, Britain, European Union nations, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and the Philippines, with China starting on May 1 and Singapore on May 8.
