Massive Park in Kuala Lumpur Soon

If we watch lots of American programs on TV, we are bound to come across the popular central park in New York. London has its own Hyde Park. I recently came across an article in National Geographic magazine about Paris' focus on beautifying its city with nature.

Probably those are what caused the Housing and Local Government Ministry to develop a huge 162ha (beats me, I have no idea how big that is) of federal land to become a park within Kuala Lumpur. I had thought the Lake Gardens was big, but it is only 91ha. So we are really talking huge here.

Actually, I was hoping to see more trees along major roads (something like in Singapore where trees on both sides of the expressway converge to provide cooling shades) to provide more shade... but I guess this could be a better solution.

Fast Food Replies...

Fast food has spoken in opposition of Malaysian government's plan to ban fast food advertising. McDonald's Malaysia's new managing director explained that it really is no use, citing an example in Sweden where the country did just that 13 years ago. A survey indicated there was no reduction in obesity compared with other European nations.

McD, Nutritional Society of Malaysia, Malaysian Dieticians' Society, media and advertisers' associations will meet with Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek tomorrow.

My Favourite Red Carpet @ The Oscars

It's been a few days and I've gone through some of the nice photos of celebrities walking the red carpet. To date, Nicole Kidman remains my favourite with her very auspicious (coincides with the 15-day Chinese New Year!) red dress:

New Heroes

UPDATE 13 February 2008: An update about the series' current status posted here.

A sigh of relief that popular American hit TV series "Heroes" will not have a cliffhanger in the season ending. Heroes Revealed website reports: The series' creator, Tim Kring said the next season will feature a new storyline and some new characters.

Phew! I was under the impression that this will become a typical American series that will leave the audience hanging at the end of the season, especially this one as every episode ends with a "to be continued...". Promise of new casts also helps! The future seems promising!

When the Sun, Moon and Earth align...

...and earth gets in-between, we get a lunar eclipse! Us Malaysians will get to see the eclipse from 5:30am to 7:23am tomorrow (Sunday, 4 March 2007). Next lunar eclipse due 7 August this year.

A live webcast will be available from the National Space Agency website.

But of course, while everyone else is watching the eclipse, I would be dreaming of it instead. ;)

Clash of the Titans

Fear or envy? The US has been looking over China's shoulder and their latest criticism is about China's expanding military. Well, China is saying that its military buildup is important for world peace.

My guess is we can expect more clashes between these two countries in the future!

In addition to that, Japan's policy chief of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Shoichi Nakagawa, commented that Japan might fall into Chinese hands one day, citing China's massive military as the base of his claims.

All new Coke from the outside

Japan Today reported that Coca-Cola is going to have an all new look (right) in line with its "The Coke Side Of Life" campaign meant to encourage people to make positive choices in life:

The Coke Side of Life = Coca Cola = positive choices
Positive choices = good
Therefore, drink Coke when you make positive choices OR drink Coke so that you can make positive choices...

The new look is now in Japan which will go worldwide in March.
