Kuala Lumpur International Airport Is ALMOST Disabled Friendly

Star Online Columnists "Hospitable airport" talked to travel agent Antony Leopold about the facilities in KLIA for the disabled. Leopold suffered from poliomyelitis (or more commonly known as polio) at an early age and moves around using crutches and sometimes, the wheelchair.

He spoke of the disabled friendly facilities throughout KLIA such as the abundance of ramps and lifts. The restrooms are also clean and built with the disabled in mind. Public phone booths are also easily reachable by those in wheelchairs. Priorities are also given when boarding flights and help is disembarking.

However, the same were not so true at the parking bays. Though 18 bays are allocated for the disabled, proper signage are not provided and the distance from the exit is not near enough. Leopold also suggested parking fees be waived for the disabled as they are struggling to make a living.
