... mostly from preventable causes. Despite progress, the world is not on track to meet Millennium Development Goal 4, which targets a two-thirds reduction in under-five mortality by 2015. The crisis is worst in Sub-Saharan Africa. The State of the World’s Children 2008 proposes key strategies to meet this immense challenge.
