New Sanctuary for Rarest Gorillas

World's rarest Cross River gorillas, with only 250 of them left, gained a new sanctuary when Cameroon Prime Minister Ephraim Inoni announced the Kagwene sanctuary for the species' conservation. These gorillas were losing the battle to hunters and lost of habitat.

The other sanctuary lies in Afi Mountain, Nigeria. Conservationists are trying to form a chain of sanctuaries linked together so that the gorillas could travel freely and mate, ensuring genetic diversity.
