Halal Food Monopoly

I was rather surprised when I read from the Star Online Nation article "Malays urged to take control of halal food industry" that 80% of the industry in Malaysia is currently monopolised by non-Muslims. That is, according to the Prime Minister's son-in-law Khairy Jamaluddin, whom is also UMNO Youth chief.

Incidentally, in another article by Star Online titled "
Cash for appointments claims ridiculous, says Khairy", Khairy was alleged to having runners who will charge the public that wanted to meet with him. In one case, the fee was RM150,000. But of course, Khairy has denied such things.
