Face Matters

Our information ministry recently came out with a remark saying that it may reduce available exposure time for Pan-Asian looking models, even though they are Malaysians. The reason being they do NOT portray true ethnic Malaysian looks. With these kinds of press releases, there are bound to be lots of opinions.

Some agree, saying that true ethnic Malaysian looking models should be given more chances and that Malaysia should be represented by people that "look" like Malaysians...

Naturally, Pan-Asian models would be against this and they label this as discrimination.

An ad agency actually came out with a reply saying that Pan-Asian models actually represent the all-in-one Malaysian look. Hence, advertisements need not be made several times for each particular race.

We are in the 21st century and we are supposed to be talking about things like global warming is caused by humans, NOT Malaysian models cannot represent Malaysia IF they appear to be of mixed parentage.
